DAY 14 OF THE 30 DAY SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE CHALLENGE

Day 14- Declutter your sentimental Items

Welcome to day 14 of The 30 Day Simplify Your Life Challenge, today I am decluttering my sentimental items. Today is typically a hard day for most of to get through as these items are things we typically don’t want to part ways with because we have a strong emotional connection with them.

My guiding questions for today’s challenge are:

Does this really spark joy?

Will I miss it if it is gone?

I have an entire shelf on my bookshelf dedicated to my sentimental items. I have two boxes full of stuff, one dedicated to when I was 18 and younger, and one from then on. My dad made me the box for my childhood collection and I have always loved it and everything inside it. I enjoy going through it, it brings back so many memories and truly does spark joy.

The second box is a box that came with a horse riding helmet and is special on its own. It reminds me of the time I got to work with horses, and I treasure those memories. The inside of this box has less stuff in it, as I just started filling it a couple years ago, but in ways, it has some mixed memories in it. Some happy memories and some sad ones. Quite a few memories of goodbyes, and of people that are no longer in my life. But these memories are still special to me. I got rid of a few things from the second box, things which I couldn’t remember why I had put them in there mostly, making them unimportant.

After going through the boxes I put everything away and put them back on my shelf.

Tomorrow’s challenge is decluttering a category of your choice,  so please check in for that!

And if you are doing the challenge as well tell me how it is going for you in the comments below!
