Welcome to 2019!
I am very excited to be doing this challenge again! The first time I did this challenge was back when Muchelleb released it on her YouTube channel in January of 2017 and I absolutely loved being a part of it. This challenge is one of the things that really set me on my journey towards minimalism. Before it, I had never really heard of the Konmari method of decluttering, and it has been life changing. The challenge follows the Konmari method of decluttering closely, with half of the challenge focused around physical space and half of the challenge around mental clutter. I have not yet decided on a posting schedule for this challenge, but ideally, I would like to post every day as I go through the challenge. If it doesn’t happen I will try to get content out every other day.
MODIFYING THE CHALLENGE
At times I will be modifying the challenge to include areas of decluttering the will replace areas that do not apply to me. I will still list the original part of the challenge as written by Muchelleb but simply will go on to declutter another area that makes more sense to me.

DAY 1- SET YOUR INTENTIONS FOR THE CHALLENGE
In this, the first day of the challenge Muchelle basically wants us to establish our “why”. Going into anything it is good to have a strong why that will drive you forward. It is your intention for the challenge. She goes on to ask some guiding questions.
Why are you doing the challenge?
What are your goals?
What are your roadblocks?
And how will you overcome them?
My answers were very different then they are now. I kept a journal for the challenge on my computer which is actually interesting to look back on now, doing the challenge again. My answers were all about getting ready to move out of student residence and into a smaller apartment, and my goal was to feel free of the weight of clutter in my life and to have a healthy environment to learn in. My main roadblock was motivation.
Why are your doing the challenge?
I own some things that I know are tying me down, whether they are just things people have given me that I don’t have the heart to get rid of, or if they are from past relationships, I am going to using this as an opportunity to reevaluate the things I own and why I own them.
What is your goal?
My goal for the 2019 round of the challenge is to be able to move past the things I own that hold me back in my mind and just make me feel bad. My goal is to feel healthier and lighter once I can be free of the physical things that weigh me down, and have sorted through the mental clutter in my life.
